The Barnes & Noble e-bookstore has been available for a number of portable devices for some time. Now, it is believed that the bookstore chain will soon unveil a hardware competitor to the Kindle.

Facebook wasn’t the first social network to exist on the Web, nor was it the first site to allow users to set up a personal page containing details about themselves. But it is the biggest social networking site in the world, and consequently is the one that seems destined to fight off lawsuits left, right, and center for the next few years.

Recently some sparks have been flying across the fashion and photoshop worlds when a controversial Ralph Lauren ad surfaced on two blogs. The picture depicted a woman with an inhumanly skinny body. Ralph Lauren went as far as to issue a DMCA letter to the sites ordering that the picture be taken down.

In the continuing saga between Google and AT&T, the FCC has now stepped in and is asking the search giant some serious questions. AT&T alleges that Google is violating net neutrality rules with its voice service. The allegations made by AT&T have caused the FCC to set in motion a probe into Google’s voice service.

Are we entering another dot-com bubble? I only ask because it seems as though domain names are being bought up in their droves and new Web properties are also appearing by the dozen. And now comes news that QuinStreet is buying the Insure.com domain name for a pricey $16 million. Which could well be the most money ever paid for a domain name.

Many of us who are not residents in the U.S. have been enviously looking on at the Amazon Kindle and annoyed that we haven’t been given the opportunity to buy one of the eBook readers. But that all changed a few days ago with the introduction of an international Kindle for all. Unfortunately, the joy was short-lived as it looks though international buyers are being royally shafted when it comes to pricing.

A man accused of unlawfully hacking into NASA’s computer systems has been refused permission to appeal to Britain’s supreme court against extradition to the United States. Gary McKinnon’s only remaining option, an appeal to European courts, appears unlikely to succeed.

NASA’s space probe, LCROSS, intentionally crashed into the south pole of the moon around 7:30 am EDT this morning in hopes to retrieve data from the dust and particles that were kicked up from the event.

There are some very basic rules for venturing online, such as installing anti-virus software and a firewall, and keeping your wits about you at all times. But anyone can fall victim to a cleverly designed piece of malware or phishing scam. And I mean anyone. Even the director of the FBI isn’t immune, though his wife seems to be.
