More Trouble in DeLay's Vicinity
“Hey! You got politics on my corruption!”
“You got corruption in my politics!”
The indictments, five in all, accuse Texans for a Republican Majority, or TRMPAC, and the Texas Association of Business (TAB) of illegally funneling corporate donations into a 2002 campaign to win control of the Texas Legislature.
A political action committee started by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay stands indicted for “…the misuse of corporate money to influence Texas elections…”
DeLay (to somebody in his office): “Quickly! Release a statement!”
Statement from DeLay’s office: “Today’s announcement is limited to a political organization and does not affect Mr. DeLay[.]”
Of course, the statement is meant to point out that Tom DeLay hasn’t been indicted personally. But this is politics, baby. It all affects you. You’re affected by it. Happy affectation, Tom.
Unlike chocolate and peanut butter, corruption and politics don’t taste good together.
