And to that point, I saw Brokeback Mountain recently and trust me, it lives up to the hype. Yes, I did cringe when I saw the previews, but the film is honest, sober and effective. Even that line, “I wish I could quit you!” is perfectly placed in the context of the story. In short, I highly recommend it.

Also, here’s something interesting about Brokeback…

solid No. 1 win at the box office Tuesday and Wednesday despite playing just 682 theaters. With about $740,000 both days, Focus’ cowboy love story beat “Glory Road,” which was on 2,222 playdates, by approximately $50,000 Tuesday and $100,000 Wednesday.

Is this the watershed film some had hoped? It certainly seems like it could be..
