North Carolina Already At 8% Turnout
Early voting and mail in has produced 470,878 votes or 50% of the turnout from 2004, which saw 16% of the voting base come out to join in the fun. Granted, it wasn’t competitive then, but it’s still impressive that early voting this year is so avid.
What’s even more interesting is that 326,090 Democrats voted in their primary, along with 60,959 Unaffiliated voters for a total of 387,049. Only 73,164 Republicans voted in their primary, along with 9,639 Unaffiliated voters for a total of 82,803.
So basically, of the 470,878 votes cast, over 82% voted in the Dem primary, while 17% voted in Repub’s contest.
