20 Names On Obama's VP List?

That’s the claim from CNN…

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Illinois Sen. Barack Obama’s vice presidential vetting team discussed roughly 20 names with a senior Senate Democrat Tuesday, including some well-known options and others that are “outside the box.”

Sen. Kent Conrad of North Dakota told CNN that some of those on the list are “top officials now,” others are “former lawmakers” and others are “former top military leaders.”

Conrad said Obama’s team wanted his impressions about the people on the list, including the respect they command and their “standing with their colleagues.” He termed their discussion “wide-ranging.”

My guess is a lot of the people who are being discussed were merely mentioned, and then some of those names may get courtesy interviews….maybe.

The real list is about 5 names long and includes a list of 4 governors and maybe 1 former military official. Because let’s remember that the economy is front and center in this election, and tapping a former military man for your VP pick doesn’t exactly make people comfortable when it comes to the whole “heart beat away” argument regarding the economy.

But I’m telling you, in this political climate, it’s gotta be a governor.
