Well, Justin has called the election for Barack Obama. Now I will boldly declare that there is no way the Democrats will reach 60 Senate votes. I know, real “out there” call.

With McConnell winning Kentucky and Chambliss pulling ahead in Georgia, the Democrats look like they’ll stall at a maximum of 58 seats. That would require Democrats winning in Alaska, Colorado, Oregon and Minnesota AND Landrieu holding onto her seat in Louisiana (no guarantee).

The other seats in contention are in Mississippi, Nebraska and Idaho, none of which will be won by Democrats. And let’s not forget that we’re assuming Joe Lieberman is going to continue to caucus with the Democrats. Can he really mend the fences?

So, no supermajority. That’s good news as far as I’m concerned.
