Proving once and for all that President Barack Obama‘s unwavering popularity has made him the coolest kid at the lunch table, both the Commander-in-Chief and Vice President Joe Biden took in lunch at Ray’s Hell Burger (ranked #2 on our list of the Best Burgers in Washington, DC) yesterday – with the requisite flock of journalists with no real news to cover in tow. In fact, today’s Washington Post Style section boasts a full eight hundred words on the 34 minute lunch date. Check out this juicy scoop:

“Your basic cheddar cheeseburger, medium well. No ketchup,” the president said, but lettuce and tomato. And: “Have you got a spicy mustard or somethin’ like that? A Djion mustard?”

And, yes, according to the Post, Obama was chagrined by Ray’s lack of fries too. Nonetheless, Ray’s staff was pleasantly surprised – as well they should, given the boom in business that followed the Prez’s visit with Mayor Adrian Fenty to Ben’s Chili Bowl earlier this year.
