Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre presents CATS, but not like you’ve seen it before
The Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre is at it again with a new and unique production of CATS that will be presented in the Paul Robeson Peforming Arts Center at Rainier Beach High School. To think of this as nothing more than an amateurish kids’ show would be a mistake you don’t want to make.
“This will be a CATS unlike any you may have seen before. Beginning with the conception of custom-made masks, make-up and hair created by renowned specialist Michael Todd Costain, and costumes built by Broadway Bound costumer Rita Overton, the cats in CATS will be rooted in popular and cultural icons such as Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Prince, George Burns and Eartha Kitt. As such, Broadway Bound will once again offer its extraordinary and individual approach to live theatre with its special trademark signature!”
“The students will perform under the direction of Kibibi Monie, the Executive Director of the NU BLACK ARTS WEST THEATRE. The modern choreography in Broadway Bound’s CATS has been developed by a team from the NORTHWEST TAP CONNECTION, led by Melba Ayco. Several guest artists from the company will also participate in the production.”
There will be three showings of CATS on Friday, May 15 at 7:00 pm, Sunday, May 17 at 5:00 pm, and Monday, May 18 at 7:00 pm. Tickets are only $10 – a bargain price for good theater. Click here for ticketing and more information on the show.
