In the normal course of events you’ve probably heard about the hit musical Wicked. It’s won all sorts of awards including a Grammny and three Tony Awards after all. In my home, however, I’ve heard about the story and characters so often I feel like I’ve already seen the show. My daughter is obsessed. And since we didn’t see the show when it was in Seattle three years ago I don’t see how I can get out of going when it comes back in September. Not that I really want to get out of it – it sounds fabulous.
“Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch makes for “the most complete and completely satisfying new musical in a long time.” (USA Today)”
And since I can’t (and don’t want) to get out of it, the best thing to do is get presale tickets.** If you’re in my boat, you should know that the presale ends at midnight on Thursday, May 14. Click on this link and use the password KMTT (courtesy of radio station 103.7 The Mountain). Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday morning at 9 am, and the last time the musical was in Seattle it sold out. Just saying.
Wicked plays at The Paramount Theatre from September 2 through October 4.
** The truth is if I don’t get tickets one way or another I will never, ever hear the end of it. There are few things more tenacious than teenage girls.
