Rent, the Broadway musical, closed in September of 2008 after a 12 year run, but hit the road in January this year for the 2009 US tour. It arrives in Seattle in June, which is a good thing for me since I haven’t visited New York for the last 12 years and would like to see in person the musical that won a slew of Tony Awards and the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The touring cast includes Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp who were members of the original Broadway cast and also in the movie adaptation. rent2

“Set in NYC’s East Village, RENT is a modern take on the classic Puccini opera, La Boheme. It tells the unforgettable story of a group of young artists learning to survive, falling in love, finding their voices and living for today.”

Rent will have eight showings at the Paramount Theatre from Tuesday, June 16 to Sunday, June 21. Tickets run from $23 to $63 and can be bought online at Ticketmaster.
