The Killers have extended their world tour in support of their latest record, Day & Age (and the new single, “A Dustland Fairytaleâ€), and they’ll be headed back to DC on August 31st for a show at Merriweather Post Pavilion. There’s no word yet on who the opening band(s) may be, but they had M83 on the first leg of the tour earlier this year, so we may be in for a reprise. Plus, vocalist Brandon Flowers and his Las Vegas-born brethren are currently recording a covers record, so if they play enough of those tunes (“One Night in Bangkok,†anyone?) it’ll be like having another band there anyway.
Tickets don’t officially go on sale until Friday, but CultureMob DC has the inside track on the pre-sale that begins twenty-four whole hours earlier at 10 am tomorrow, May 28th. Tickets will run you $35 to $45 bucks, but that’s a small price to pay to prove to at least one of your Pitchfork-saturated buds that Merriweather Post Pavilion is an actual venue and not just the name of an Animal Collective record. Ugh.
Here’s the info (including the pre-sale password) direct from IMP Productions (the same folks who own and operate the 9:30 Club). Beat the scalpers and get it on this quick, as it’s sure to be sell-out (no pun intended):
