Some reaction to my post on gay-themed plays timed to the 40th anniversary of Stonewall pointed out that there is much more happening in New York if you include obscure shows of very brief runs and also expand your definition of a gay play. Such currently popular Broadway shows as “Hair”, “Billy Elliott,” “Avenue Q” and “Shrek” include gay characters or themes, for example.

The gay events magazines HX and NEXT both have extensive theater listings, and include shows of interest to the LGBT community or that exhibit a gay sensibility without any overt gay subject matter, as well as shows specifically geared to Gay Pride Week, such as:
“30 Gay Plays in 60 Straight Minutes”, the 3rd Annual Pride Show and Benefit for Marriage Equality at Kraine Theater created by the New York Neo Futurists. Two benefit performances only: June 26th and 27th.
