This week is Internet Week in New York City. Of course, these days it’s Internet Week every week nearly everywhere, but this is an actual schedule of events all over Manhattan where cybernuts meet in person.
Tonight from 7 to midnight, for example, is your chance to go to the rock club Webster Hall for free and see Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht, who are kind of the Regis and Kelly of the weekly webcast, except with laptops on their laps and beer bottles in their hands. They are the hosts of Diggnation, and they will presumably be doing a version of their Web review show (which presents sites popular on digg), interspersed with music from Fort Knox Five, Ursula 1000, MCs & Beatboxers from Freestyle Love Supreme and The Freeze.
To get a sense of what this might be like, here is episode 205, “Affairs to Remember,” all 35 minutes of it, in which Rose and Albrecht spend the first 22 minutes talking about 1. a story from India where a fish got stuck in a boy’s penis; 2. the story of a man who discovered his wife’s affair in Taiwan by watching a porn DVD; 3. a quote from the CEO of SONY on why he hates the Internet. (It picks up after that.)

Internet Week runs through next Monday, June 8th. Here is a schedule of all events, which includes both Google 101 Training for Marketing and Advertising Professionals at the Fashion Institute of Techology and The Microsoft Gallery at Internet Week on West 14th Street. There is even one event in Brooklyn, at the DUMBO Arts Center.
