The first fall-out from the Tony Awards comes with the announcement that Neil LaBute’s “Reasons To Be Pretty” which was nominated for three Tony’s but did not win any, will play its final performance this Sunday, June 14th after 106 performances on Broadway.
This play is worth seeing for the amazing (Tony-nominated) performances of Thomas Sadoski and Marin Ireland, who play a couple breaking up over a remark that the man makes about her appearance. Take a look at Sadoski as Ireland reads a list in public of all his physical flaws.
Since there are so many four-letter words in the play, the television broadcast couldn’t really do justice to the energy and insight of LaBute’s writing and Terry Kinney’s direction.
