I’m happy that Miley Cyrus is coming to town, and no, it’s not what you think. I’m not really a fan, my kids are too old to be fans, and we’re not actually going to the concert. I just really like the fact that the tour is going the paperless ticket route.
Miley Cyrus will be in concert at the Tacoma Dome on Wednesday, September 16 and tickets go on sale Saturday, June 13 starting at 10:00 am. Click here to buy tickets, but be sure to use a credit card you can take with you to the concert because you won’t get in the doors otherwise.
Paperless tickets require concert-goers to present identification and the credit card used to purchase tickets in order to attend the event. As the Ticketmaster website points out, this will “ensure fans get fair access to seats at face value.” (Now if only we could do something about those service charges). It’s also green (less paper).
Another aspect of the tour I approve of: “The Miley Cyrus Tour is donating $0.75 of the venue’s Facility Fee to the City of Hope.”
The mission statement of City of Hope: “At City of Hope, we treat people who have cancer and other serious illnesses, not simply the symptoms and the disease. We strive to treat the whole patient, and we do it with respect, honor, humanity and understanding.”
The only downside I see to using paperless tickets for this particular concert is that parents will most likely have to attend with their kids, as a twelve year old is unlikely to have a credit card. Wait, parents spending time with their kids and supervising their activities? Maybe not such a downside after all.
