conneyislandhostsannualmermaidparadeglolpgsjtuplAre you looking to do something exclusively New York-ish? Need some variety in your Saturday? This Saturday, June 20th, head down to Coney Island on the D,F,N or Q train and scope out the Mermaid Festival! A New York tradition for many years, this year it will begin at 2:30pm, and the fun will continue for hours beyond that. Come dressed up, or just to watch the amazing costumes, and if you want to march in it be sure to show up at 10am and register. Also, don’t forget about the Mermaid Ball, which goes on rain or shine at the Dreamland Roller Rink, and will set you back a mere $10 (plus $5 for skate rental if you don’t have any).

Hosted by King Neptune and his Queen Mermaid, the joy and fun for all ages will go on all afternoon and into the night, regardless of the weather. Given that we’ve been pretty soggy as of late, I’d advise bringing an umbrella. Or, you can just pretend you’re a mermaid in the sea and skip the umbrella all together!
