After being gutted by a fire in 2007, DC Mayor Adrian Fenty will officially re-open the famed and now fully restored (and air conditioned!) Eastern Market at 10 am on Friday, June 26th. And the city is throwing a party to celebrate.

This Saturday, June 26th, the Capitol Hill community will welcome back the historic market’s food and flower vendors back to their original stalls with an “all day street party” outside of the building at 225 7th Street, SE. The celebration is set to include live music, food, facepainting, family activities, and tours of Eastern Market’s newly upgraded interior. Here’s an agenda of the day’s activities:

10:00 – 11:30 am: Yamomanem – New Orleans Jazz, 30’s Creole and Caribbean (including N’awlins “Second Line” Parade)

12:00 – 1:30 pm: Memphis Gold and Jay Summerour – Blues

2:00 – 3:30 pm: Honky Tonk Confidential – Alt County, Rockabilly

4:00 – 5:30 pm: Runakuna – Traditional Andean Music
