I’ve been negligent in my reporting duties, though with big news like this, there’s a good chance you’ve heard already. Tutankhamun—King Tut, if you’re nasty—is back in the Bay after a 30-year hiatus. From now until March 28, 2010, he’s kicking it at the de Young in Golden Gate Park. With such a long stay, you really have no excuse but to go.

Well, OK, there are plenty of excuses: long lines and high ticket prices top my list. So let’s see if we can’t make your visit that a little more pleasant. My first recommendation is to buy your tickets well in advance. You can save money by going as a group—$24 per weekday ticket vs. $27.50. Also, weekend tickets are even pricier and you’re bound to encounter bigger crowds then, too. Go ahead and take a sick day from work. You deserve it!

You might also be interested in checking out Tut at Twilight, which happens every Wednesday through September 30. Tickets are only $20 and you get access to a special Egyptian food menu at the tasty de Young Cafe. Dining like King Tut without paying King Tut prices? I am so in.

All tickets can be purchased through the de Young’s Tut website.
