For the past three weeks, as part of Restaurant Week 2009, more than 250 restaurants in New York City were offering lunch for $24.07. Why $24.07? Because the city is open 24/7. As I wrote in this article in TheFasterTimes, a more fitting price might have been $9.50, to match the unemployment rate.
In any case, I ate several Restaurant Week meals this time, to see if it was worth it.
Many people seem to think so. Since Restaurant Week began in 1992 in New York as a come-on to the delegates of the Democratic National Convention, there are now Restaurant Weeks all over the nation — including Atlanta, Baltimore, Houston, Miami, and, from August 24th to August 30th this year, Washington D.C.
