On August 15th, Demetri Martin— comedian, actor, artist, musician, writer, and humorist– will bring his stand-up act to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in downtown Denver. If you don’t know him from his stand-up work, you may recognize Martin as a contributor on The Daily Show. He was also a writer for Late Night With Conan O’Brien. Most recently he’s had a hysterical stand-up/sketch show on Comedy Central called “Important Things with Demetri Martin.”

Martin is known for providing an idiosyncratic stand-up experience. He includes music, either on harmonica, keyboard, guitar, glockenspiel, toy bells, tambourine– or sometimes all at the same time. A big pad of paper, on an easel, often accompanies his act where he does drawings, often using both hands at once since he is ambidextrous. He is from the Steven Wright school of deadpan humor. One of my favorite Martin one-liners: “Dreamcatchers work… if your dream is being gay.”
