Hey! It’s nearly time for the biggest pot rally in the nation!
But before adherents to or opponents of the cause get offended by that term (funny how that works), you should know that Hempfest, while loads of fun, is on a serious mission to advocate “the decriminalization of marijuana for responsible adults, legal access to medical marijuana for patients who could be benefited by cannabis, and legal domestic hemp production.” I guess that makes it serious fun. Yeah, sorry. If you want to know more, click on this link for the festival FAQ, including answers to questions like “What is Seattle Hempfest about?” and “Can I get in trouble for attending or participating in Hempfest?” The quick answer to that last question is “No.”
Seattle Hempfest 2009 will be held August 15 – 16, with admission on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 am. The festival closes at 8 pm on each night. “The event spans three Seattle waterfront parks: Elliott Bay Park (North Entrance), Myrtle Edwards Park, and Olympic Sculpture Park (South Entrance).” Admission is free.
There will be plenty of music, speeches and comedy on five different stages, as well as dancing, crafts and lots of food. The lineup is huge. I usually like to pick out highlights, but there’s just too much going on. Click this link for the lineup.
