Gapers Block Annual Block Party Takes Over Metro This Weekend
By definition, a gapers block is a traffic jam that is caused when drivers slow down to look at an accident or incident on or off the side of the road. But ask many a Chicagoan, and they’ll tell you it’s one of the amazing web publications in our city that keeps everyone in the know about news, politics, food, art, culture, and music.
And these writers know how to throw a party as well! They’re taking over the Metro this Friday night from 8pm till close, bringing some of the best local acts to the stage. The lineup includes Panda Riot, Blane Fonda, Nikki Lynette, and the Hood Internet. I’m excited to check out some of the bands I’m not familiar with, and really excited for the dance party that will surely ensue when mash-up DJ masters the Hood Internet take the stage. These guys can get anyone moving. Word is there will also be a photo booth, found imagery slide show, and much more.
And how much do you think this party will cost you? Absolutely nothing if you show up before 9:30pm. That’s right, Gapers Block is not only throwing a killer party, but a free one as well. And in this current economical time, who doesn’t love a free party? And if you get there after 9:30pm, it will only cost you $6. It’s a real deal for a Friday night out.
The Gapers Block Party is Friday September 4th at the Metro. Doors open at 8pm, and the party starts at 9pm. See you there!
