Labor Day Weekend L.A. Free Happenings, Movies, Tarpits. Wait, what?
The summer has come and gone, as this weekend marks the end of the season, but there are tons of things to do and some free things as well.
LACMA has decided to help Labor Day Weekend with free entry for all people all events on Monday September 7. Â There are a ton of great exhibits and an amazing new space, so check it out.
LA Brea Tar Pits. Random suggestion? Maybe, but its free and fun and you know you have always wanted to go. Its the best source of ice age fossils in the world and it’s in LA. How random is that?
Cinecon Classic Film Festival is going on for 5 days at The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Its days of rare silent films, played with paino accompanyment and those from early sound. Â They are forgotten gems, and at such a historic spot viewing would be as close to authentic as you can get!
Sweet and Hot Jazz Festival is taking place this weekend from the 4th through the 7th. I fyou love jazz, in it’s 14th year the festival has a ton of acts. It’s at the MArriot at the airport so you can swing by after a day at the beach or bar-b-cue. Â Though you must have friends to bar-b-cue so get on that now. You got two days.
As always there are beaches (El Matador and Venice and Manhattan Beach) and parks (Griffith and Runyan Hiking) and boating options (Marina del Rey down to Newport Beach), so get out and enjoy this amazing city on the weekend that signifies its time to get back to work. Boo.
