Twilight fans know how to put the “fan” in “fanatic” and they’re going to prove it the weekend of September 12 – 13 in Forks, WA. That’s when Stephenie Meyer Day takes place. Really, that should be Stephenie Meyer Weekend, don’t you think? The little town of Forks, which hit the map in a big way in 2005 when Twilight was first published, has two full days of activities planned to celebrate the Twilight franchise and all it has done for the town.
People come from all over the country to tour Forks High School, take part in a trivia contest and Twilight character lookalike contest, hear the mayor read a proclamation and listen to stories around a bonfire. They’ll listen to all the bands and to book readings and go hiking in the forests among many other things. And unless they made hotel/motel reservations long ago, they’ll be looking around Port Angeles for a place to stay.
Most of the activities will take place in Forks and LaPush – click on this link to see the full schedule. Forks is only a few hours from Seattle so it’s not impossible to make it a day trip. Here’s a map and driving directions.
