Just in time for President Barack Obama‘s landmark address before a joint session of Congress, the downtown cafe, book store and arts outlet, Busboys and Poets, have announced that they will host a speech on health care reform from former DNC chairman, presidential candidate and physician, Howard Dean.
Dean, who gave a similar talk at Politics and Prose last month, will be on hand not to only promote the President’s pro-reform agenda, but also sign copies of his latest book, Howard Dean’s Prescription For Real Health Care Reform. According to the event’s promoters, Dean will argue that “for real reform to happen, Americans must have the choice to either keep their existing coverage if they are happy with it, or have the option to select a public plan.” (Expect multiple wags of the finger from Fox News and co. shortly after the presentation.)
The event will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, September 15th at B&B’s flagship 14th & V location. For more information, visit: www.busboysandpoets.com
UPDATE: Busboys and Poets have confirmed that the Dean appearance will be now be a Town Hall-style event moderated by WAMU’s Kojo Nnamdi. Start getting those placards ready now.
