There are several things Seattleites are really passionate about – coffee, salmon, views, the Seattle Freeze – but right up there near the top are our dogs. We love our dogs. We want great off leash parks and bars that will let our dogs in during happy hour. And if we can have a party devoted to our four-legged friends, that would be great.

FidoFEST is that party. Held at U Village on Sunday, September 27, starting at 11 am, it culminates the Seattle Humane Society’s 7th annual Walk for the Animals. Bring your pets or adopt one there, check out the dog friendly beer garden, watch the contests and marry off your dogs among other things. Before you go, you can go online and enter your pet in one of several contests – Cutest Mutt, Beautiful Baby, Savvy Senior – with the $5 entrance fee benefitting the Seattle Humane Society. Click here.

The 5K Walk for Animals begins at 9:30 in U Village and strolls along the Burke Gilman Trail. Registration and check-in begin at 8 am. For $30 you and your dog can take a walk, get a T-shirt and bandana and do yoga. Many KOMO TV and radio personalities have formed teams and invite you to join and walk with them. Finally, CityDog Magazine is on the hunt for the most fabulous Cover Dog Model, so if any of you stage parents thing your pooch has what it takes to grace the cover of the magazine, enter here. FidoFEST is the last chance for judging before the final round.
