Broadway By the Bay Salutes Cy Coleman
If you recall, I got all gushy about Broadway By the Bay’s “The Full Monty” a little while back. Though the trek to the San Mateo Performing Arts Center is a bit much for most of us, the journey is most definitely worth it. High production values, excellent casts, and a reasonably priced concession stand—what more could you ask for?
This weekend, Broadway By the Bay presents “Broadway Up Close and Personal: A Tribute to Cy Coleman.” I realize that might not be a household name for everyone, but Cy Coleman is responsible for several highly acclaimed shows, including “Sweet Charity,” “The Will Rogers Follies,” “Little Me,” and “The Life”—to name a few. If that’s not enough reason to attend, check out the talent they’ve got lined up: Tony Award winner Donna McKechnie, Sharon Wilkins, Judy Blazer, and Jason Graae. These are big theater names! The cast will be performing selections from Coleman’s shows, songs like “Big Spender,” “Witchcraft,” and “The Best Is Yet to Come.”
This is only a four-night event, so don’t miss your chance to see it. The show begins this Thursday, and you can get tickets for as low as $15. Check out the Broadway By the Bay website for details.
