So you have had enough of the family and think the early movie is a good idea? Else you are a total movie-phile and can’t go a day without seeing a new one (dork), then head to the theatres two see these 3 (or 2 if you aren’t in NY or LA) movies to be released on Christmas Day.
Sherlock Holmes. Yes, I am a Guy Ritchie fan, but really, who doesn’t love every performance RDjr. has ever given? Â And there is just so much of him in this movie it has to be great. Â Friends have seen it and tell me its great, so go and enjoy. Â But don’t spoil it for me. I want to discover it all on my own..
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. This is the NY and LA on Christmas Day only movie (it goes nationwide in early January) which is Heath Ledger’s last movie.  He was filming when he passed away and three actors came on board to finish Terry Gilliam’s latest  project. Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law take turns in Ledger’s role in this Fantasy/Drama film.  YEs, this means you Jude Law lovers can see two of his movies on Christmas Day.
It’s Complicated. Written and directed by Nancy Meyers and starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, this movie has hit written all over it. Â Is it just me or is Meryl Streep working more then ever? Â It’s great and all, and I’m enjoying the comedy, but I’d love another Out of Africa kinda movie. Â She does strong woman heartache better than anyone.
Usually I expect some kinda big budget Tom Cruise action movie or Will Smith comedy holiday movie, but this year it’s arty and thoughtful and foreign options, which, truthfully I am really enjoying. Â (Although Alvin and the Chimpmunks: the Squeakqual comes out Dec 23 so that kinda counts as big budget, right? At least in kid land.)
