TV Star Sharon Gless Leads Cast of "A Round-Heeled Woman" at Z Space
You probably know Sharon Gless from “Cagney & Lacey.” Or maybe from “Nip/Tuck.” Or quite likely from “Queer As Folk.” Long story short: the actor has made a name for herself with countless roles on popular shows, but now’s your chance to catch her in her San Francisco theater debut. Gless stars as real-life author Jane Juska in “A Round-Heeled Woman,” premiering this Tuesday, January 5, at Z Space at Theater Artaud.
Based on the book of the same name, “A Round-Heeled Woman” is inspired by what happened after Juska placed the following ad in The New York Times Review of Books: “Before I turn 67—next March—I would like to have a lot of sex with a man I like. If you want to talk first, Trollope works for me.” The 63 replies she received form the basis for a play that covers dating, relationships, and sex after a certain age. The themes are universal, though the set-up may be especially relevant to those feeling a little bit over-the-hill.
Previews of “A Round-Heeled Woman” begin on Tuesday, but the official opening date is January 16. The show runs through February 7, and tickets can be purchased on the Z Space website. Also, note that on January 11, Jan Wahl will be hosting a special behind-the-scenes event with Gless and the real Jane Juska. Tickets to that event are also on sale now.
