Call it a natural pairing. U St.‘s depot of all things eco-conscious, Greater Goods, and “local AND organic” chowder maven Sara Polon — aka Soupergirl — are getting to together for an in-store tasting on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 2 to 5 pm.
Polon has made a name herself these past few years by offering a new menu of vegan friendly, all natural soups each week for her deep, deep roster of e-mail subscribers citywide. (Her secret ingredient? “Homemade vegetable stock goodness.”) Once orders are received, each and every one is made to order and then available for pick-up the following week. Find out more here.
The event at Greater Goods — who themselves just made their first foray into locally sourced products with their District Suds line of soap — will, however, mark a rare opportunity to taste all of Soupergirl’s offerings under one roof. There’s no word on exactly how many different varieties Polon will have on hand, but given that this week’s broth-based innovations are “3D lentil and balsamic roasted vegetable” and “winning white beat, carrot, pear combination” soup, don’t expect any Campbell’s Chunky-fueled bouts of deja vu. And, most importantly, come hungry.
