The Philly Roller Girls is skater-owned and operated, and a proud member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association.
Since 2005, they have developed a league of athletic, ferocious, kick ass chicks on wheels and have brought roller derby back to Philadelphia. Their three teams – the Broad Street Butchers, Heavy Metal Hookers and Philthy Britches – compete each year for the Warrior Cup in our home city.
The all-star travel team, the Liberty Belles, represents our city in bouts across the country: they are currently ranked first in the WFTDA’s Eastern Division.
The 2010 Home Opener is set to an epic grudge match when the Philthy Britches take on The Heavy Metal Hookers! Last years epic championship saw the Hookers collide against the 3-Year Undefeated Warrior Cup Champions and just come up short. So this bout should surely up the ante in this heated rivalry!
In the other match up for the evening The Broad Street Butchers collide against a group of DC Rollergirls. he DC Rollergirls are the only flat track roller derby league in Washington, DC. Historically, DC was home to the Washington DC Jets, which played banked track derby until 1978. Roller derby has grown in popularity since 2003, largely due to the creation of the WFTDA. The DC League also consists of Three Teams: Cherry Blossom Bombshells, DC DemonCats, and Scare Force One
Tickets are available online at Ticket Leap for $15 (General Admission) and $25 (VIP). You can also purchase at local outlets: 700 Club and Crash Bang Boom.
