Cocktails for a Cause: The Seventh Annual SOME Jr. Gala
President Barack Obama spent his MLK day holiday helping out the prominent poverty, hunger and homelessness advocates of So Others Might Eat — better known to most as just SOME — by doing his bit at their O St. soup kitchen.
This coming Feb. 12th, DC’s ever-growing corps of young professionals will too have their chance to support one of Washington’s most important charities — but in black tie and at the fabulous Corcoran Gallery of Art. (Tough break, we know.) Enter: the 7th Annual SOME Jr. Gala.
As the name would imply, Some Jr. is geared towards twenty-something up-and-comers from the Washington metro area looking to put a Friday evening towards good cause. Last year’s festivities drew almost 900 attendees and some $100,000 in donations, so get tickets while they’re still available (and don’t forget to bring your business cards.)
Proceeds raised at this year’s $85 a head, cocktail soiree will go directly to the Anna Cooper House — a SOME-sponsored affordable housing complex for the homeless and urban poor. Tickets can be found here, while head over to the SOME’s site or Facebook page to get more info on the organization’s wide array of altruistic endeavors and volunteer opportunities.
