Is she the new new Miriam Makeba, the female Fela? Angelique Kidjo, philanthropist, UNICEF Goodwill ambassador, and “Africa’s premier diva” according to Time Magazine, is releasing a new album, “Oyo,” on February 9 and going on a tour that will bring her to venues throughout the United States, including Town Hall in New York City on March 26th. Oyo comes on the heels of Kidjo’s Djin Djin, which featured performances by such admirers of her music as Alicia Keys, Peter Gabriel, Joss Stone, Branford Marsalis, Carlos Santana, and Ziggy Marley
