For the dude who wrote “Nervous Breakdown” and “Rise Above,” former Black Flag guitar player Greg Ginn sure has mellowed a lot. In the twenty-five years since that band split, he’s played in about a jillion others — good (Gone) and bad (Jambang — yea, it’s a jam band) alike. And he’s still touring his ass off.

This spring, he’s taking one of his recurring solo projects, Greg Ginn & The Texas Taylor Corrugators, on the road. This one he’s calling “rock/jazz/country/blues/latin/psychedelia” — even if it all comes out sounding pretty much like latter. (Not a bad thing…we’re leaning towards good on this one…maybe.) He also plays all of the instruments except drums as TTC…which should make for an interesting live experience to say the least. Oh yeah, and the East Coast opening act is afrobeat/funk band.

For more of Ginn on everything from his “profound respect for Jerry Garcia” to the urgent need for cat rescue, check out If any of that sounded crazy, don’t worry. Dude started SST Records, so he gets a pass. He’ll be playing here in DC at the good ol’ Velvet Lounge, but here’s where to catch him outside of Dead City:
