Wicked Tickets in Toledo

Wicked, growing to be one of the most popular musicals ever since first opening in 2004, comes to Toledo’s Stranahan Theater for a 24-show run, March 31-April 18, 2010. The Stranahan has been the scene of many great shows in Toledo, and Wicked is sure to be well attended.

Wicked is a Broadway and West End musical, with songs and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman. The story is based on the best-selling novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, a parallel novel of the 1939 film of L. Frank Baum’s classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz from the perspective of the witches of the Land of Oz.

The show was nominated for ten 2004 Tony Awards, winning those for Best Actress (Menzel), Scenic Design and Costume Design. It also won six Drama Desk Awards. On December 15, 2009, Wicked became the 20th longest-running show in Broadway history. Wicked has played over 2,550 performances, surpassing Avenue Q, which closed in 2009.
