In just over a decade, the LSE-based, “gypsy punk” troubadours of Gogol Bordello have gone from playing dingy basements up and down the East Coast to sharing the stage with Madonna. Every time they tour, perpetual sell-outs follow in their wake, but this coming April, they’ll be an extra added reason to catch their carnival-cum-concert extravaganza — the on-the-road debut of singer-songwriter (nee hardcore tough guy) Jesse Malin‘s newest band.
Once a member of first wave NYHC band Heart Attack and formerly the frontman of almost famous punk greats DGeneration, Malin’s been showing his softer side with no less than five, largely acoustic solo releases since 2005. Now, however, he’s picked up a new backing band in the form of The St. Marks Social — and they’ll be making their first trek out of the five boroughs with their new labelmates in Gogol Bordello next month.
Dates follow below. In the meantime, to hear Malin take up the ol’ electric once again, check out a track from The St. Marks Social’s upcoming debut, Live It to Life, here.
