It’s like porn for lit lovers. The 2010 Seattle Book and Paper Show takes place May 22 and May 23 at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall and there will be enough paper to satisfy the most demanding appetite.
Dozens of vendors will be on hand with rare books, first editions, postcards, art prints, maps and ephemera. Ed Smith Books will have first editions, photography and screenplays. Far West Maps & Books out of Cheyenne, Wyoming will have maps and books that specialize in the history of the West. Barbarossa Books Ltd. covers the military, Rose Alley Press offers poetry, Antiquariat Reinhold Berg brings antique maps, prints and atlases from Germany, Fantasy Illustrated will have pulp magazines, science fiction and fantasy, Fairlook Antiques has postcards, vintage photographs and View-Masters (remember those?), several vendors specialize in the Pacific Northwest, and Ravenna Rare Books promises “oddities & eccentricities of human behaviour.” And all this is just the tip of the paper iceberg. How could you not go?
The show runs from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday. There is a $5 fee to get in the door. A complete list of the vendors and a map with booth locations is available on the website.
