DC’s mid-city “launch pad” for creative entrepreneurs and non-profits, Affinity Lab, is brings the arts to own front doorstep with the first Pop Up @ U Street — an all-day festival of “free food, free beer, live music and high class art” coming this Thursday, July 15. (Yeah, you read that right.)

Working in concert with the organizers behind the Monument Music & Arts Festivalcoming in 2011 — and the longstanding Dream for Kids children’s charity Affinity is currently looking for artists in all media — painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, glass, and so on — to submit work for the daylong exhibition and silent auction.

More details are the public festivities are forthcoming, but interested artists should get in touch with their website for information submitting (and not donating, as Affinity is quick to point out. Twenty percent of the proceeds raised during the day will go towards Dream for Kids, so rest assured that all the adult-oriented fun is going towards a good cause.
