PAUL McCARTNEY Rocks the WHITE HOUSE with All-Star Line-Up

0

The Library of Congress is honoring Sir Paul McCartney on June 2nd with a red carpet gala at the White House — and the former Beatle is bringing along a few fellow chart-toppers to celebrate.

McCartney will be on hand to receive the third annual Gershwin Prize for Popular Song and, to mark the occasion, the man himself and a select guest list will be treated to covers of Sir Paul’s Fab Four and solo work from Faith Hill, the Jonas Brothers, Dave Grohl, Jack White, Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Herbie Hancock, Corinne Bailey Rae, Lang Lang and inaugural Gershwin Prize winner Stevie Wonder, while Jerry Seinfeld emcees the entire evening’s proceedings. (Extra kudos to whoever launches into “Taxman” first.)

For those feeling burned by another recent, Beatles-related happening in DC, however, at least we can state that this one is certifiably not a hoax, as the angry mobs of downtown politicos, foreign envoys and their hangers-on clamoring to get on the guest list for this A-list East Room soiree surely evidence. The layman, however, will be able to catch the ceremony in its entirety when it airs on PBS stations nationwide this July 28th as part of the “In Performance at the White House” series. Check local listings for exact show times in your uncouth neck of the woods.
