On page one of her new memoir, “I Know I Am, But What Are You?” Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee imagines what life might have been like had her parents not separated when she was a baby. “Obviously, it would involve a regular commute to the maximum-security penitentiary to visit whichever of them had committed the murder that signaled the official end to their marriage,” the 40-year old mother of two writes.

Good news for Bee: neither of her parents committed murder. Great news for Philadelphia: Bee will read excerpts from her book and sign autographs at Philadelphia’s Central Library on Saturday, June 19.

“I Know I Am But What Are You?” is a collection of personal essays that cover subjects ranging from Catholicism to sex, to what it’s like to hail from a long line of divorcees. Bee describes her family tree as having been hit by lightning numerous times, rendering it “charred” and “ungroomed.”

Bee, who is married to fellow Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones, said in a recent interview with NPR, “It’s really nice that they hired Jason because that makes it a lot easier on me…Being at work is kind of like being on a date minus the S-E-X-.”
