Rock Paper Scissors World Championships in Fremont to benefit hungry kids

2

Do you have what it takes? Can you outthink an opponent and survive cutthroat competition to become the Rock Paper Scissors World Champion? Think about the bragging rights that go with that title. Then, think about the kids and families who will eat a little better this summer thanks to the donations this event will pull in.

On Thursday, June 24th, the 2nd annual Rock Paper Scissors World Championships will take place starting at 6:00 pm in the LTD Bar and Grill in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Fremont (perhaps better known as the Fremont Fun Club), the event is held to raise funds for the Family Works Food Bank. Summer is especially hard on struggling families when kids can no longer get meals at school, and the Food Bank is gearing up to meet the increasing demand.

A $10 donation and an email to rps@fremontrotary.com will get you into the competition. A $5 donation or non-perishable food donations will get you in the door of the LTD Bar and Grill to witness the competition and cheer on your favorite contestants. Seriously, can you think of a better way to spend a Thursday evening?

Also, if you check out the World RPS Society – yes, that really is what you think it is – you’ll realize that the title of “World Champion” is a relative thing. Then again, Fremont is the Center of the Universe…
