"Let Freedom Sing" in 2010.

Long before I was a Gleek (potentially obsessive fan of the hit show ‘Glee’), I adored listening to part-singing such as barbershop. This year, the Barbershop Harmony Society’s convention will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from June 28 – July 4, celebrating freedom with an exposition of men’s vocal music – as well as a nod to Philadelphia’s famous mummers.

You can purchase weekend tickets or tickets for selected highlights, mainly the chorus and quartet competitions taking place throughout the weekend. The convention also includes relevant vocal topics such as “Care of the Senior Voice” and “How to Sing Your Best and Love Every Minute of It.”

While this is primarily a convention for barbershop vocal enthusiasts, general visitors should not miss the opportunity to witness top barbershop performances in competition. Another performance highlight includes speed painter Greg Pappas who will demonstrate his skills to the harmonious barbershop sound.

A complete schedule of events and performances are listed comprehensively on the Barbershop Harmony Society’s site.
