Bob Log III at the Tractor Tavern
Let me address the elephant that is sitting in the middle of the room right now that is your mind. Yes, the gentlemen you are looking at is wearing a motorcycle helmet. I’m not sure why. I don’t event think the man himself knows why. He’s been performing with it sense the inception of the performer widely known as Bob Log III came into existence sometime 12 to 13 years ago. Along side the helmet every time he performs he brings with him a bass drum, some percussion, a telephone, a vintage archtop guitar and a whole lot of craziness. It’s a one man band act that doesn’t disappoint.
Bob plays the blues. More specifically Mississippi backwoods style delta blues. In a day when Jack White is busy occupying himself with his seventeenth side project and The Black Keys are creating records with hip hop producers, Bob hasn’t swayed one step off the path. He plays a mean slide guitar and he tours relentlessly all over the planet to bring his sound to the masses. His lyrics can be downright offensive (if you can properly hear them to begin with) and there is no shortage of gimmicks. Currently there is a video floating around YouTube where Bob jumps into a life raft and rides across the audience during part of his set. There will be no shortage off odd/awesome moments at the Tractor on Wednesday night.
All jokes aside, Mr. Log (what is his real name anyways?) is a skilled traditional blues man with very untraditional antics. Best case scenario: an hour’s worth of great music with a well entertained drunk audience. Worst case scenario: you get to tell your friends you saw some weird guy in a brightly colored outfit curse and mumble offensive stuff all night. Sounds like a win win either way.
