Scientists have argued that time travel is near impossible and would require breaking the laws of physics. I haven’t studied the probabilities or how it would even work, but when I close my eyes and listen to Sharon Jones it feels like time travel is a reality. How else can you explain authentic soul music that speaks this true? It’s hard to believe she’s a product of today and not of the 1960’s. After playing backup duty to other artists in the 90’s she found her way into the conscious of  the mainstream in the 2000’s and never looked back. Music fans should be thankful somebody was paying attention.

Sharon and her 8 piece ensemble visit Seattle tonight by way of Brooklyn, New York in support of their latest release I Learned The Hard Way (Daptone). Their song arrangements primarily fall into the funk and soul revival category. Thick horns, conga drums, and vibrant organs play setting to Mrs. Jones charisma and warm vocals. For those still in disbelief let me reaffirm that this is not a joke and this is not a rehash of something that once was. The music is simply to genuine and believable to not take seriously.
