Woo Pig Sooie!: Matt Besser’s One-Man Show Comes to Philadelphia July 23rd

Matt Besser
Matt Besser comes to Philadelphia on July 23

The Philly Improv Theater presents world class improviser and comedian Matt Besser, who is bringing his one-man show to Philadelphia on July 23rd at Connie’s Ric-Rac! Matt is a juggernaut of the improv comedy world.  He is one of the founding members of the Upright Citizens Brigade (along with Amy Poehler, Matt Walsh, and Ian Roberts).  The UCB starred in a criminally underrated sketch show on Comedy Central from 1998-2000.  They also started their own theater in New York and California which has become the pinnacle of improv performance and teaching.  Outside of the UCB, Matt also co-created and starred in the show “Crossballs” on Comedy Central and has had multiple guest spots on tv (“Reno 911,” “Sarah Silverman Program,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” etc).  Matt can also be seen on the big screen in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

Besser truly shines on the stage and his one man show entitled “Woo Pig Sooie!” is a prime example of his talent.  The title refers to the famous Hog Call of the Arkansas Razorbacks but the show does not concern college football.  Rather, Besser fearlessly confronts the state of religion in America while advocating the separation of church and state.  At times both playful and angry, the professed atheist pokes holes in some of the archaic beliefs of both Judaism and Christianity and tries to shed a light on some of the inherent hypocrisy of religious leaders.  Besser combines storytelling, stand-up, and improv in this hilarious and irreverent show that shouldn’t be missed!

Matt Besser’s show “Woo Pig Sooie!” is brought to Philadelphia courtesy of the Philly Improv Theater, the city’s best source for improv, sketch, and stand-up comedy.  The show will take place on July 23rd, 8pm at Connie’s Ric-Rac, 1132 South 9th Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19147.  Tickets are $20 and are available here.  They are also on sale at the door for $25 but there’s a definite chance they will sell out so get them sooner rather than later!
