City of Hope, Stylus Salon and Ghost Gallery are working together to organize a benefit event for Saturday, September 11th called “Celebrate the Shape of Life.” This specific fundraising event is part of the larger Seattle Walk for Hope (www.walk4hope.org) which will be on Sunday, October 3, 2010.  Both events support women’s cancer research and treatment programs at City of Hope. Artists are being asked to decorate, design or modify a Corset or Slip, or to create a work of art that involves an image of a corset or slip, which will be exhibited at Stylus during September and October. The theme celebrates Women: their strength, struggle with cancer, survival, beauty, power, etc. The artwork would be donated, with proceeds from sales benefiting City of Hope.
Deadline for the completion & delivery of work would be August 31st. Interested artists are asked to email firstname.lastname@example.org by July 15th if they would like to participate. Artists are also being asked to include, if applicable, a brief story of personal experiences they’ve had with women in their life (or themselves) being affected by cancer. The purpose of the exhibit is to celebrate women, raise awareness of women’s cancers and raise funds to support the innovative research and life-saving treatment programs at City of Hope.
