According to Culture Monster Rainn Wilson says “LACMA’s a very valuable piece of property that really should be developed. I’m thinking condos immediately. I know it’s by the Grove but I think another mall might be a good idea as well. My mission is to destroy the remaining art institutions in L.A. and look at the value of the real estate beneath them.”

Actually the actor is participating in a new kind of project at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, called “Cell Phone Stories” where technology and social media are being used to create a different kind of museum experience. Each participant will Twitter a series to create a story. The Mulleavy sisters, the cool duo behind Rodarte, created a series of sketches based on pieces that are part of  LACMA’s permanent collection for the project.  And it turns out Rainn Wilson is not only an art collector and LACMA member, but his father is an abstract painter.  Check out Robert Wilson’s artwork here.

You can text “LACMA” to 67553 to receive weekly text messages that will direct you to the various components of this project, which will include text stories, links to videos, graphics, and audio experiences.
