The Hammer Museum is hosting a special series to facilitate “mindful awareness.”
It’s the opposite of shopping.Â It’s the opposite of getting somewhere.Â The idea is that through self-observation and taking a minute to notice things like your breath and body, you might experience relief from the stresses of daily life.Â What is the benefit of your new purse, or making partner in your law firm if you can’t even feel yourself enough to enjoy your hard-earned acquisitions?
If you’re in desperate enough a state to be Googling: “Mindfulness”…Well, you’ve landed on an opportunity to fit your busy schedule.Â Participants are invited to drop-in for as little as five minutes, if that’s all the relaxation they can handle.Â The full workshop runs for thirty minutes and takes place in the Billy Wilder Theater under the instruction of folks from the UCLA Mindfulness Research Center.
Meditation isn’t just for quacks / hippies / yoga instructors.
We all have a mind that needs more fullness, less distraction.
