Get out of the city heat on August 28th at Arapahoe Basin, where you can take part in the first ever summer BBQ. Besides the great food ($12.95 in-advance or $14.95 day-of), you will experience the opening of the much-anticipated Mountain Express chairlift and a brand new hiking/biking trail that the ski resort is now offering.
A-Basin is known for putting on some great all-day parties and this one promises to be no exception. Live music starts at noon but get there early to get a prime spot on the beach—that is, the sandy strip that backs right up to the ski mountain. If you are feeling a little more outgoing, bring a grill and some side dishes to make it a home-style BBQ while enjoying the great selection of craft and microbrew beers for sale at the base. Kids can keep themselves entertained with a hula-hoop making station while adults help out the sustainable mountain at the High Country Conservation Center live auction taking place at 1:00 pm.
This is likely to be the last of the great summer weekends before fall starts kicking into high gear in the high country, so make a day of it and experience the ski mountain from a different side of the spectrum.
