'Glee' Goes 'Rocky Horror' for Halloween Episode and New CD

Will America accept Glee in goth and drag?  You betcha. Just in time for Halloween, the hit FOX TV show will air a Rocky Horror Picture Show episode Tuesday, October 26 and a week prior, the audio release Glee: The Music, The Rocky Horror Glee Show will hit stores on CD and for downloads.

The Glee kids pay homage to Richard O’Brien’s cult musical masterpiece, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year in DVD and Blu-ray editions.

Rocky Horror classics such as “Time Warp,” “Damn it, Janet” and “Touch A Touch A Touch A Touch Me” get the Glee treatment. The pop culture phenomenon recently returned to TV as 12.3 million viewers tuned into the second season premiere and more than 250-thousand (!) new tracks were downloaded in the first 48 hours available.  It marked the first time all singles from any episode simultaneously appeared in the top 10 of iTunes Top Songs chart.  Additionally, the Glee cast version of Jay-Z’s anthem “Empire State of Mind” has the single highest first day sales for any Glee track released to date.

This week’s episode, airing tonight (Tuesday, September 28) is the anticipated Britney Spears show as the cast takes on Brit-Brit’s hit tunes, which include “Toxic,” “…Baby One More Time,” “Stronger,” “I’m a Slave 4 U” and “Me Against The Music,” and Spears makes a special cameo appearance.

13 million Glee songs have been digitally downloaded, with over 5 million albums or EPs sold worldwide.
